Magica Mileage Tracker update for iOS 18 has just been released on the AppStore! This new version brings great news, let’s discover them together!
iOS 18 Support
Magica was already 100% compatible with iOS 18, the latest version of the Apple operating system that will be released on September 16, 2024, but with this update Magica will have a very useful iOS 18 feature.
Control Center Widget
The widgets for the control center are really useful buttons that can be added to the home screen.
From these buttons you can access 4 main features:
- Add a new refueling or recharging
- Add a new service or expiration
- Add a new trip
- View the location of the parked vehicle
These new actions are in addition to the existing ones within the Apple Quick Commands app, so you can create custom actions.
Vehicle efficiency control
This is the most important and interesting news. From today Magica is even more useful thanks to the constant control of the vehicle through the detailed analysis of the trips made.
Through all the recorded data Magica is able to highlight anomalies in the efficiency of the vehicle.
The categories taken into consideration are:
- Driving style, sudden acceleration and braking, speed variation
- Too short trips
- Efficiency during the day
- Efficiency in different seasons
For each of these categories Magica performs an accurate analysis of the trips but let’s see in depth what happens.
Driving style, sudden acceleration and braking, speed variation
Driving style is the first field that is analyzed, this analysis was already present in the old versions and has now been improved by also adding weather conditions.
A driving style that is too nervous can decrease the efficiency of the vehicle.
Too short trips
By analyzing the trips you can understand if too many short trips are made. These in fact affect the efficiency of the vehicle, turning the vehicle on and off often, making short trips without warming the engine too much and other factors, can worsen the situation, even ecologically!
Efficiency during the day
Magica analyzes all trips and checks if there are significant variations in efficiency during the day and if they occur, it warns the user explaining what happened and how to improve.
Efficiency in different seasons
Similarly, Magica checks all trips during the 4 seasons (taking annual data, so it will be necessary to use Magica for at least a whole year) and highlights significant variations offering advice on how to improve them.
Importing data from CSV
Finally, after many years, support has arrived for importing data from CSV (Comma Separated Value) files. It took me a long time to do it but in the end I succeeded.
I created a customizable importer that is not tied to a particular type of CSV to give everyone the ability to import data.
With this feature you can import data from any app, even Android ones. This way, those who switch to an iPhone can continue to have their data.
Conclusion
This version also brings with it many new features and makes Magica even more complete and useful. I’m really curious to know what you think and if you notice any problems don’t hesitate to write to me!
